Life is Too Short
My how time flies when we are in the body. Of course, we made up time, some time ago. I got to thinking about yesterday’s blog about eating healthy. It occurs to me that sometimes we make poor health choices because we are attempting to fill up some hole inside. I know I have often been guilty of eating unconsciously. Occasionally, I will eat a meal and feel satisfied. Then not too long after, I find myself looking for a snack. It’s not about being physically hungry. It’s about me being emotionally undernourished.
It might be helpful to check up on how we are creating what we desire. For most of us, we have created a life where we choose to make ends meet. We get to pay the rent, buy the car, feed the family, feed the cat or dog, etc, etc. Many of us find employment to create enough income to take care of those obligations. When I was a manager back in the 1960’s, I had a hundred people working for me. I would often give them a pep talk and say “I want you to jump out of bed and almost race to work” I want you to be here more than anywhere else that you might work. I want you to be doing what you love to do. If this is not that place for you, I want you to quit. Please find that place that creates a spark in your life. Don’t settle for just getting by.”
Life is too short to spend most of our time supporting someone else’s dream. Unless doing so is our dream as well! It might be helpful to take stock right now and ask ourselves “am I living MY dream?” If not, I believe finding our own dream will fill our heart. Then, perhaps we won’t be filling the hole in our soul by filling our bellies. Who knows, doing what you love may be the new diet? From my inquiring heart to yours, Thomas
