Magical Music

Lou Ann and I went to a benefit concert to support the local elementary school which may be shut down.   There was a group of performers singing and playing guitars.  Three of the performers have meant a lot to me.  When we moved to Sedona in the late eighties, Patrick Ki would play his guitar at the Hideaway restaurant.  He would strum out tunes as he walked the aisles.  When he came to our table, we would request a John Denver song and I would sing the words as he played.

Robin Miller another composer, guitarist and key board player wrote a piece of music called Transcendence.  It is a wonderful piece of music that allows the listener to connect with a deeper part of themselves.  In April of 2000 my mom Gladys, was nearing the end of her life.  Lou Ann and I sat beside her and read the wonderful spiritual messages of Emmanuel while we played Robin’s Transcendence music.  We felt the light in the room magnify and it felt like angels were present as she left her body. I let Robin know how much that meant to us and what a gift it was to Gladys as well.

Eric Miller, Robin’s son has become an amazing Flamenco guitarist.  He and Lou Ann’s daughter dated back in the late eighties. And has become a good friend. The fourth performer was vocalist and percussionist Susanna Martin.  As we sat there and listened to this wonderful group of musicians, perform at such a high level, I felt so blessed.  I had this gorgeous thought of how beautiful life is and how fortunate we are to live it full out!  From my deeply appreciative heart to yours, Thomas

When You Care Enough

I love my new computer.  It’s just a thing, but it serves me well right now. Tonight, Lou Ann and I watched a Hallmark Hall Of Fame movie.  These movies have a lot of emotion and feeling to them.  More than a regular weekly program.  The story tonight was about a woman dying of cancer. She has a daughter who is angry with her, so there is a lot of healing to take place.  The Hall of Fame movies also have fabulous commercials.  They use the Hallmark saying of “When you care enough to send the very best” and expand upon it.  The commercials are real life stories of people making a difference in their communities.  One of the themes was “When you care enough to be someone’s hero!  They showed a group of people who gather together to help each other with the most basic things like food and shelter.

When we serve in a bread line we are someone’s hero.  When we bring them a blanket to keep them warm.  When we give them shoes to cover their feet.  When we paint their house, mow their lawn, take them to the doctor, help them buy groceries we can be their hero.  When we march for veterans or teachers or people being limited in their civil rights, we are heroes.  We don’t have to be rich or educated or smart.  We only have to care enough, to take the time to do what will help our fellow humans and other sentient beings.  From my caring heart to yours, Thomas

Self Esteem

Lou Ann and I went to see the movie “I Feel Pretty”.  Amy Schumer does a great job playing someone who has little self esteem until she bumps her head. Then she sees herself as she has always wanted. This is one of the most important lessons in life.  In truth, everything is exactly as we perceive it to be.  We create everything.  What we deeply believe will be created. This is so powerful.  There is no one outside of us creating any event in our life.  If we believe there is karma, there is. If we believe this is the only life, it is. If we believe that anything is possible; we create an internal narrative that supports that idea. Belief invites us to “be on the lookout” so we can gather evidence to support our theory. Once confirmed we begin to weave the belief into the pattern, fabric and garment of our lives.

Our beliefs can be expansive or very limiting.  There is evidence of our beliefs.  Look at your life.  What is in it?  What do you own? Who do you love.  Who are your friends and family? Whatever you currently have in your life, you have one hundred per cent intention to have it.  This is where the power is.  Right now, if you have created something that doesn’t enhance your life.  You get to change it.  We no longer have to look outside of ourselves to create life the way we want.  And, we don’t get to blame anyone or anything for what we have.  When we realize how powerful we truly are, our life changes dramatically.  We then can love ourselves just the way we are.  There is no higher self esteem than that.  From my powerful heart to yours, Thomas

Blessed

I will have my new computer soon and I will be able to share directly on my own Facebook page.  Thanks for finding us on Lou Ann’s page. I have shared with you the story about how I came to start this blog some ten months ago.  The essence of that story is that Kwan Yin came to me through a local sensitive.  She kind of reprimanded me in a way.  She exclaimed that “there are millions of people on planet Earth who are suffering.  They have lost hope and have given up.”  She went on to say that I have the experience and knowledge and heart to support them with my words. I hope they have been some help to you folks who get to read them .

I knew I was going to be a minister when I was in high school.  I became one at the age of twenty seven.  Later I enrolled in a metaphysical university in Washington D.C.  Then started a spiritual center in Maryland in 1975.  So I have more than forty years of experience of listening, learning and sharing spiritual principles.  I have been blessed to study with some of the most wonderful teachers and masters over the decades.  Their words and experience are melded into my own personal philosophy of how to live the most loving, caring, giving life possible.

The most profound guidance I have to share is “Follow your heart!  Your spiritual heart is the essence of all truth.  It will never let you down.  When we come to a place where we desire to know what is the best possible outcome for all; it is advisable to find a quiet place and take some deep breaths. State your query and then be still and listen.  If you do not get a clear indication of what direction you should take – do this.  Surrender to your higher self and then make any decision that you choose to do.  Once you set off in a particular direction, you will be given all the contacts and experiences that will lead you to your greatest good.  From my blessed heart to yours, Thomas

Illuminated

The Illuminate Film Festival has chosen it’s movies for the upcoming festival on May 30th to June 3rd.  It is our fifth year and Lou Ann and I have been honored to volunteer the past three years.  I would encourage everyone who is able, to come and attend.  Not only will you be able to see twenty five films, there will be sessions after the movies we call Reel Healings.  Our mission is to share conscious cinema with the world to help foster personal and global transformation.  Cinema is such a powerful medium that allows us to learn, grow, expand and change.

We are all illuminated!  We are all bright lights, who have sometimes hidden our glow.  The world is in trouble and we can help it out.  One way is, to watch conscious movies and then take action.  It is our turn to take a stand for all the Earth’s inhabitants.  Many cannot speak for themselves.  These amazing filmmakers you will see, are the voices of those, that cry out for healing and love! Please go to Illuminatefilmfestival.com and see the outstanding line up of films and bring your loved ones with you.  From my cinematic heart to yours, Thomas

Treasure Every Moment

I was playing tennis today with three other players at Poco Diablo Resort in Sedona.  As I was beginning to serve, I noticed that the person I was hitting to, was looking in the sky. In the book of Mathew it says “For where your treasure is; there will your heart be also!”  I think Jesus wanted us to focus on what is ultimately more important.  At the moment of the tennis match, it is somewhat important to be ready to respond when the ball is put in play.  However, our match stopped for a couple of moments while four older men gazed into the sky and watched a Red Tailed Hawk and a Raven play tag, a few thousand feet above us.  We felt honored to watch this dazzling dance in nature.

It was a sacred moment and we were blessed.  There are so many small moments that make up the tapestry of our lives.  When we take time to stop and watch, and be in alignment with creation, it is truly sacred. Perhaps you have those moments as well.  Please take time to drink them in and feel the connection to All That Is.  It is who we are! It makes our life a treasure! From my treasured heart to yours, Thomas

Love Yourself No Matter What

The greatest happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved; loved for ourselves, or rather, loved in spite of ourselves.  We spend a lot of time seeking happiness in an amazing variety of ways.  Too much time looking outside of ourselves in our search for joy.  Life is way too short to be looking for something or someone to make us happy.  We have always had the capacity to love our selves, we just forgot who we are.  There is nothing broken that needs mending.  Remember the words to one of my favorite songs. I love myself the way I am, there’s nothing I need to change.  I’ll always be the perfect me, there’s nothing to rearrange.  I’m beautiful and capable of being the best me I can.  And I love myself just the way I am.

The point of the song for me is, there is only one you and that you, is the perfect you in every way.  Our minds often get in the way and try to convince us that we are not okay.  Our hearts know the truth.  So, whenever you are not sure about how you are doing.  Just remember that you are beautiful and capable at the most important thing in the world.  And that is being you!  And you are the only one who can do it.  From my one in seven billion hearts to yours, Thomas

Little Blue Spaceship

Lou Ann and I attended an Earth Day celebration in the little town aptly named Cornville Arizona.  The event was at a place called Maggie’s Farm.  It is a couple of acres of sustainable living. Sustainable living, is the practice of reducing your demand on natural resources by making sure that you replace what you use, to the best of your ability.  For instance, reusing and repairing things in our home and workplace, instead of going out and buying the fanciest new versions.  Another would be to consider to purchase local, instead of places like Amazon, who have to use a lot of energy to get us the product.

There were talks on beekeeping, using gray water and permaculture. Which is what we are doing to our little acre here in the Village of Oak Creek. Permaculture is defined as consciously designed landscapes which mimic the patterns and relationships found in nature, while yielding an abundance of food, fiber and energy for the provision of local needs.  In our case, we are going to grow as much organic produce as we can and give it away to the less fortunate.

Life will always find a way to live.  Our global thoughtlessness about our planet, has destroyed ninety per cent of the forests. It’s frightening but true; our planet is now in the midst of its sixth mass extinction of plants and animals — the sixth wave of extinctions in the past half-billion years.  However, no matter how much carnage we humans do to our beloved Earth, it will find a way to live.  The problem is: our children and their children’s children, will suffer so much because of us.

Even if you only find a way to have some tomato plants and herbs on your patio, it will help.  Anytime we grow organic fruits, vegetables and trees, we help sustain the world.  I will probably share about this subject in the coming months more than any other.  It is vital that we turn our environment around and we are the only ones who can do it.  Please, do all you can to be sustainable about your life and perhaps we can save this gorgeous place for all those who will come.  From my sustainable heart to yours, Thomas

Life

What is life anyway?  A series of events.  Some stuff that happened.  Some stuff that happened to me, all along the way.  Made me who I am today.  These are lyrics from a Michael Byers song called “You Are My Friend”. I am typing on Lou Ann’s computer.  Mine crashed and it doesn’t work at all; along with all of my film festival information, my solar business and our Airbnb business.  Oops! I can’t locate our computer fix it guy, Jake.  It feels weird not being on my computer for hours today.  I can do a lot of it on my phone, so I get to adjust to this creation of mine.  All of the events in life that happen and how we handle them, that makes us who we are.  This is not tragic.  Not life threatening.  Just inconvenient. So I get to create in a whole new way perhaps.  Maybe you folks have had days like this where you get to look at things a little differently.

I have become so comfortable doing my blog and our businesses in a certain way.  Maybe something will shift for me and I will do it in a different and more productive way.  Maybe I will do something completely new.  I will hearken to those words of one of John Denver’s songs “Sweet Surrender”  ”

“There’s nothin’ behind me and nothin’ that ties me to
Something that might have been true yesterday

Tomorrow is open, right now it seems to be more than enough
To just be here today”

I will surrender to this creation of mine and just be here today.  Maybe you are up against something that is not flowing as well as you had hoped.  You might want to surrender to the situation and know that there’s a spirit that guides us, a light that shines for us.  It has always been that way and will always be.  We don’t need to know everything about our path that we are on.  It may be enough to know that it is on purpose and divine!  From my surrendered heart to yours, Thomas

Who Decides?

Lou Ann and I love to people watch.  We were having lunch in the Scottsdale Fashion Square mall today.  Thousands of folks passed by, while we ate our lunch.  I see people and my mind immediately begins a conversation with myself about them.  I might notice their age or their hair color or their nationality.  I will observe how they walk, the look on their face, how they carry themselves.  I make up stories about whether they are happy or sad or divorced or awake to life.  I notice some as attractive and some not so.  And here is where the challenge for me occurs.

Who decided what is attractive or beautiful or not attractive and not so beautiful.  As they saying goes, clearly the judgment of anyone else is in the eyes and mind of the beholder.  In society, why is slim more attractive than heavy? Perhaps in some parts of the globe it is just the opposite?  The point is, it is all a judgment, based on some kind of general agreement, that has no bearing about the truth of it.  Meaning, each of us gets to decide what we like and who we like, physically, emotionally, spiritually.  In the grand scheme of things, it means little.  We are all here as members of one human family and we appear in about seven billion different ways.

The truth is, we are all one.  Each and every one of us is Divine and perfect.  We don’t need to measure up to anyone else’s standards of how we look, who we love and what we choose.  Yes, it is fun for me to sit and observe my fellow human race in all of it’s variety and uniqueness.  I see you as a treasure of the Universe!  You are beautiful in every way.  As we used to say at Spirit Church we used to say “I unconditionally love and support you just the way you are, in all your magnificence!”  From my unconditional heart to yours, Thomas
