Heart to Heart 451

Magnificent Monday!

Sitting here on Monday evening at the computer, with a blank stare.  I always want to be an inspiration to others.  I want you to know how wonderful you are.  I want you to know there is so much more to life than appears.  I want to say to all, that this moment right now is unique.  It has never occurred before.  You are unique, there has never been anyone like you ever!  Take a deep breath and let that sink in.  Your thoughts have never been before.  Your special way that you see life has never occurred before. On my way home driving in my car, I looked to the night sky in the South and saw the gorgeous Milky Way galaxy.  I had a lump in my throat as I contemplated the extent of creation! And I thought of each soul on Earth that gets to connect with another part of Oneness.

If you are feeling like you are stuck or in a rut, stop.  There are no ruts, only unique paths that only you can create. There is not limit to the paths you can take to remember who you are and why you are here! Today is Monday and a workday for many.  Instead of it stressing us out. Let us look at it in our own wonderful way and declare “this is the day I realize my greatness of heart and passion of soul.  This is my moment to shine.  Let us declare a new term: Thank God it is Magnificent Monday.  From my magnificent heart to yours, Thomas

Heart to Heart 450 Success

Success

A measure of a person’s success, is not what they accumulate.  It may be who they get to share it with! That was the theme of my favorite movie; It’s A Wonderful Life! I remember a sign I used to read on people’s cars that said ” He who dies with the most toys, wins!”  I couldn’t disagree more.  For me, the things that have been the greatest gifts are the smiles on my families and loved ones faces.  The hugs we all gave each other.  The kind words we shared together. The silent moments we spent together. Those are the successes I would love us to celebrate!

Rob Siltanen the advertising genius said this: “Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

Let us be the crazy ones.  Let us be outrageous and push the human race forward.  Let us celebrate each day by doing all we can to change the world in a better way.  Let us have a sign on our cars that says she/he who cared, gave, loved, included, shared and hugged the most, won!  From my successful heart to yours, Thomas

Heart to Heart 449 Makers

Makers

Violet Palmer became the first woman referee in the National Basketball Association in 1997.  She was told to “go back in the kitchen!”  She didn’t!  She was ridiculed by those whose minds are from another time in our country.  She went on to referee 919 games in the most prestigious and powerful basketball league in the world! She became the first female to officiate in an All Star game, in any major U.S. sport.  She became the first openly gay person to officiate a professional sport!  She has gone on to be a referee manager for the NBA.

I grew up in a time in our land when women, minorities of all colors, races, nationalities and those who loved the same sex were insulted and degraded.  When I heard some people talk, it puzzled me that they would speak harshly about someone they didn’t even know.  I know that friends of mine when we were young boys would denigrate another boy who didn’t play well.  We would say “You throw just like a girl!”  There were unkind words for immigrants who came from all over the world.  It seemed natural for folks to speak that way at the time.

We still have millions of people who may still speak and feel that way.  This past two years has shown us a dark side of our country.  Sports is one of the places that has become a meritocracy.  The definition of meritocracy is: Meritocracy (merit, from Latin mereō, and cracy, from ancient Greeκ, kratos “strength, power”) is a political philosophy which holds that certain things, such as economic goods or power should be vested in individuals on the basis of talent, effort, and achievement, rather than factors such as sexuality, race, gender, or wealth. In athletics, if you have the skills, attitude and perseverance to compete you will be respected and accepted.  Violet Palmer has that.

MAKERS is a feminist media brand for newsMAKERS, historyMAKERS, and troubleMAKERS. They tell the stories of today’s trailblazing women to inspire the changeMAKERS of tomorrow.  If you want to join the movement and raise your voice. go to makers.com.  Right now, forty per cent of Democrats running for office in the U.S. House are women! Let us all support these new world makers!  It is time for the amazing, powerful, inclusive, feminine energy to be leading the way for our Earth to discover it’s magnificence!  From my feminine heart to yours, Thomas

Heart to Heart 448 Land of the free and the home of the brave?

Land of the free and the home of the brave?

When Francis Scott Key penned those words, he ended the sentence with a question-mark, not a period or an exclamation!  I love this amazing country, which is now, some 242 years into a grand experiment of a nation, that is of, for and by the people. It may have been unique in all the history of the Earth; up until that time on a hot summer’s day in the City of brotherly love.  These framers of the Declaration of Independence, risked life, limb and property to stand as one against tyranny. They literally pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor!

We live in a day when many of us do not have to go that far to live in a country where we have the claim to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  We can create that on our own, each and every day.  However there are some of us that this is not the case.  We have people in our country who are hated because of the color of their skin,  We have others who are looked down upon, because of their choice to love whom they choose.  We have folks who believe in God and some who do not and others whose God is something that might be judged

There is a new Nike company sports equipment ad that focuses not on what product to buy but on the idea that any person who chooses to express their unalienable right, can do so.  In this case, a professional football player decided to kneel when the National Anthem was played, instead of standing.  He was objecting to the state of affairs of the people of his race who were being arrested, tortured and murdered without cause because of the hate of the perpetrators. He has the right to do that!  He was given that right, over two hundred years ago.

When Key wrote those lyrics on the horrific night on September 13, 1814 when the British were destroying Fort McHenry in Baltimore Maryland.  Perhaps he ended it with a question mark because he was against the war when it began in 1812? It may be, that he thought there would not be a country anymore?

Freedom is precious.  It is not given by any government.  It is the nature of life!  It is sometimes taken away by others by force or other measures.  However, it can never be taken from our hearts.  The reason our country, with all of its faults is great, is because of it’s heart. One reason we celebrate bravery is because it comes from our heart.  Our mind would not commit to action, if it were not for our heart! I am encouraging us all to find the heart and the courage to stand up for the freedom for everyone and every thing.  Then perhaps our country and perhaps the Earth will be the world of the free and the home of the brave! And it will not be a question any more. It will be an exclamation!  From my free and brave heart to yours, Thomas

Heart to Heart 447 What One People Can Do

What One People Can Do

Buckminster Fuller was a futurist with a comprehensive understanding about Universal energy.  What you might not know is that Fuller designed a lot of other things, cars, houses, cities, even maps. His goal, always, was to promote something he called “ephemeralization.” This is the idea of doing more with less so all of humanity could thrive on a planet with limited resources, a world he dubbed ‘Spaceship Earth.  Of course he also invented the Geodesic dome. Bucky once said: “Now there is one outstandingly important fact regarding Spaceship Earth, and that is that no instruction book came with it.” And therein lies the rub!

I have a good friend, Randolph Craft (Randy) who lives on the Big Island, who is an expert in the teachings of Buckminster Fuller.  Many years ago he was giving a “Bucky” presentation at a large business conference in Los Angeles.   I was sitting in the audience and Randy spoke about Bucky’s close relationship with John Denver and that John had written a song about Bucky.  Spontaneously I raised my hand and said I knew the song.  Randy invited me up front and I sang “What One Man Can do”  Here are the lyrics:

“What One Man Can Do”

I suppose that there are those who’ll say he had it easy,
had it made in fact, before he’d ever begun.
But they don’t know the things I know, I was always with him.
It may sound strange, but we were more than friends.
It’s hard to tell the truth when no one wants to listen, when no one really cares what’s going on.
And it’s hard to stand alone when you need someone beside you,
your spirit and your faith must be strong. What one man can do is dream, what one man can do is love.
What one man can do is change the world and make it young again,
here you see what one man can do.As shaded as his eyes might be, that’s how bright his mind is,
that’s how strong his love for you and me.
A friend to all the universe, Grandfather of the future, and everything that I would like to be.What one man can do is dream, what one man can do is love.
What one man can do is change the world and make it young again,
here you see what one man can do.
What one man can do is dream, what one man can do is love.
What one man can do is change the world and make it work again,
here you see what one man can do.
What stands out for me in this song are the lines:
It’s hard to tell the truth when no one wants to listen, when no one really cares what’s going on.
And it’s hard to stand alone when you need someone beside you,
your spirit and your faith must be strong.
This is a time on planet Earth when so many of us need to tell the truth about what is going on particularly here in the United States.  There are people in our current administration who do not speak the truth, in fact they lie most of the time.
We get to stand and say what is true for all of us.
We get to care what’s going on.
We are not standing alone!
We get to choose how we live our lives on Spaceship Earth.
This is not what one man can do.
This is what a group of committed caring people can do.
Our faith and our spirit is strong!
Please join, attend, lead any organization whose purpose is inclusive and loving.  Let us get involved now like never before.  This is our time to save planet Earth.  This may be the reason we incarnated at this time.  To make a difference that will serve our children and their children.  We have seen what Bucky can do and what John Denver can do.  Now let’s see what one people can do!  From my ‘ephemeral’ heart to yours, Thomas

Heart to Heart 446 Spend Time in Love

Spend Time in Love

One of the great creations of Spirit is the ability to choose.  We are so blessed to be able to choose our life experience.  Many of us, have lives that have been hampered by our choices and sometimes the actions of others.  Here is the gift!  Choose again!  When given or creating circumstances that feel limiting and fearful, we can choose love.  I know that this sometimes sounds airy fairy!  Oh sure it is easy to choose love except when you are up to your eyeballs in challenges.  It is still a choice.  We can lean towards love or lean towards fear.  Leaning either way creates more of the same.

Let us think of the times in our life when we felt love and caring from others.  Let us also think of the times when we were in such a loving place that we easily gave our love to others.  Remember when you were held by someone who cared.  Remember that teacher who praised your efforts.  Remember that warm tongue of your puppy on your nose.  Remember your first time you held someone’s hand in a romantic way.  Remember the smile on your friends face when you wished them happy birthday.  Remember the time you risked doing something you feared and you succeeded! Remember your first kiss!  Remember your last kiss!

We could go on and on about recalling all the times we felt love.  Now let us do it one more time.  Go look in a mirror and tell your reflection how much you love yourself.  Yes, challenges in life may continue to arrive.  When we are full of love, we can meet them and welcome them.  They just give us another reason to remember we are love!  From my loving heart to yours, Thomas.

Heart to Heart 445 Pay it Backward

Pay it Backward

Remember the wonderful movie, Pay It Forward, where the young actor Haley Joel Osment began the wonderful act of doing loving things for others and only asking in return, that the recipient pay it forward.

In 2000, Catherine Ryan Hyde‘s novel, Pay It Forward was published and adapted into a film of the same name. In Ryan Hyde’s book and movie it is described as an obligation to do three good deeds for others, in response to a good deed that one receives. Such good deeds should accomplish things that the other person cannot accomplish on their own. In this way, the practice of helping one another can spread geometrically through society, at a ratio of three to one, creating a social movement with an impact of making the world a better place.

I thought of this today when a friend of mine purchased something for me as a gift, for something I had done for him.  I thought maybe our “loving” paying can work in reverse as well.  Let us take some time and perhaps write down a list of people that did thoughtful things for us in the past.  Then go take an action that would do a loving thing for them as well.  It could be a random act of kindness, or it could be a chance for us to let them know how our lives were brightened, by their gift to us.  Then they could make a list as well and all of our Pay It Backward angels, could help create more love and compassion and joy on our planet.  If we all shared at least three of these gifts, it would exponentially accelerate the love energy around the Earth.  From my totally gifted heart to yours, Thomas

Heart to Heart 444 Being Present

Being Present

We have all been blessed in so many ways.  Sometimes we go through our days in an unconscious way.  It may be Friday and we say what happened to Monday through Thursday?  It is easy to do.  Here is something that Ram Dass said: “much more of the time, when I am ‘here,’ this is it, I am here, and when I’m not here, I’m not here. It’s interesting how when you give another human being, your family, or your business, the fullness of your being at any moment, a little is enough; while when you give them half of it, because you’re time binding with your mind, there’s never enough. You begin to hear the secret, that being fully in the present moment is the greatest gift you can give to each situation.”

I remember a talk given at Income Builders International many years ago.  The presenter was Barry Spilchuk.  He was having some challenges with his presentations and he asked Jack Canfield for some advice.  Jack told him ” When you’re in the room, be in the room!”  It was the first time Barry had ever heard this concept and he was so funny trying to figure it out.  At that point in his life, he couldn’t wrap his mind around the notion of Jack’s advice.  As far as Barry understood if he was in the room he had to be in the room.  It was hilarious at the time!  The advice simply means be fully present to life!

Life is such a gift and it seems to go by in a blink of an eye.  When we take the time to be present, life becomes immortal in that moment.  There are no clocks ticking, no schedules to be kept, no check list to do.  That is why one of the Buddhist admonitions is to chop wood and carry water.  When we do this, there is nothing lacking, nothing else we need.  Meditation and practices like it, help us to focus so intently, that we can slow down life and be present.  I encourage everyone to ease up, take a deep breath and be present.  Please give yourself this gift as often as possible.  From my present heart to yours, Thomas

Heart to Heart 443 Our Mission…Should we choose to take it!

Our Mission…Should we choose to take it!

I was out walking today and these thoughts came to me.

Right now our world would thrive when we create these scenarios.

How to heal veterans and their PTSD and save at least the 22 lives per day that are destroyed, as these honorable servants commit suicide.

A world where all people of all color, live as equals in opportunity, freedom, safety, and abundance.

A world where folks of all loving expressions, share their love, whether LGBTQ or any other loving way of being and have the freedom to do so.

A world where young black men and women get the opportunity to live in safety, and learn life skills, that propel them to the greatness they all have inside.

A world where all people, both women and men have equal pay for equal work.  A world where there is no glass ceiling or any other ceiling that presents any of us from achieving our magnificence.

A world where all people of the Earth receive a “living wage” so that their basic needs are met for shelter, food, water and comfort.  Then our fellow humans can flourish without the pressure of “making ends meet”.  This will help us eliminate poverty and then there will be less violence and wars.  Then peace on Earth will begin to flourish!

A nation (U.S.) that creates the way for all people to vote, including a legal holiday to do so. A country where fairness in elections is created and honored, including no gerrymandering.

A world where teachers are paid for what they are worth to society.

A nation (U.S.) where a college education is free for everyone who chooses to go or trade schools as well.

A nation (U.S.) where prisons for profit are eliminated.  Where criminals are rehabilitated and educated and healed to return to society.

If we choose this mission and realize it is possible, and achieve it, we will have left a lasting legacy for generations to come, who will live in prosperity, love and magnificence!  From my mission possible heart to yours, Thomas
