Giving and Receiving
I was on a three mile walk today. I got to thinking about doing something for someone. I didn’t want anything in return. In our language today we use terms like tit for tat or quid pro quo. These terms generally mean an even exchange of things or service. Although there are some alternate meanings. Back in the early 80’s we first learned about Universal Principles. The creator of these principles is Arnold Patent. Arnold created a support network. The purpose of the mutual support group is to provide a safe and nurturing environment in which to practice giving and receiving unconditional love and support, reconnecting with our feelings and reclaiming our power.
It is more fun to just give without any expectation of anything in return. A lot like paying it forward. It is a trap to expect something in return for giving. Our ego self wants to be appreciated. Our higher self knows that everything is One. That when we give we are always giving to ourselves. Doesn’t it feel good to give our time, energy, money, talent, love? So giving and receiving are the same thing. The principle is like another one that says “means and ends are identical”. Whatever energy we hold while we are doing anything is the result itself. When we feel loving and we share ourselves with others we create more love. Let’s create more joy by giving unconditionally; knowing that when we do, the giver gets the greatest gift! The gift of love! From my very blessed heart to yours, Thomas
