Animal Rights
I have just watched a film and I cannot share the title with you until another time. It is a brilliant movie about animal rights. For most of the Earth, animals are second class citizens, little more than chattel. However, for many, animals are cherished and loved as much as their own families. This movie depicts the plight of all kinds of animals. It pointed out that one hundred humans were killed by tigers per year. Ten people each year are killed by sharks. Each year, humans kill ninety-six billion animals, yes billion. Seventy five million farm animals killed daily.
Most of you probably know about PETA. It stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. With the help of a global army of kind people, PETA has revolutionized the way the world thinks about animal rights. Now, people aren’t just asking if the tanks at Sea World are too small—they know that it’s wrong to confine and display intelligent, sensitive orcas at all, and they’re speaking out about it. They aren’t just avoiding fur coats—they’re seeking out vegan leather shoes and vegan wool sweaters made of other materials. They’re not just decrying cruelty to dogs and cats but also demanding an end to the horrific cruelty that animals raised for food endure every day on farms and in slaughterhouses.
Sometime during the Neolithic age, we became farmers and we domesticated animals. So for the last several thousand years, the human race has dominated animals. Now we are destroying the rest of the planet with our selfish decisions. It is time for us to change this scenario. It is time to take a stand for all animals of our planet. We are the only voice that animals have. We are the only ones who can do the loving and nurturing things, to help all these wonderful creatures. Please join all the animal lovers of the world and do whatever you can to support and care for God’s precious beings! From my hopeful heart to yours, Thomas
