Happy Easter
My earlier life experience is a lot like other people my age. We were born in traditional religious families who celebrated the seasons and holidays. Easter was a time of dressing up and going to church even if you didn’t do it that often. Fridays, my family and almost all of my friend’s families, ate fish. My mom, who was not religious, put together Easter baskets with chocolate bunnies and jelly beans.
Later, as a teenager I was involved with the Hollywood Presbyterian Church. Easter had a deeper meaning, as we learned about the story of the Nazarene named Jesus. And of course, Easter is probably the most powerful day in Christianity. Jesus taught many lessons as a citizen of Bethlehem; that were wise and powerful. Later on in my search for truth, I began studying all religions and found more inclusive messages, in Eastern ones. So, Easter became a holiday that we celebrated with our kids and family and not about church.
I hope everyone celebrates each day as if it were a resurrection. In every moment there is the opportunity to renew our connection with our Divine self. Each day, presents a variety of ways, we can start anew. We don’t have to get stuck in a rut. We don’t have to live out of habit. We can choose, and choose again, until our path is brightened, our load is lightened, our heart is opened. The Easter season is a time to look forward to planting and growing our ideas and dreams.
