Christopher Robin
Lou Ann and I went to the movies, here in Sedona, to see the latest adaptation of the Winnie the Pooh adventures. The plot is a lot like life, for many of us. If we are fortunate, some of us get to spend a childhood filled with fantasies and characters that entertain our imagination. We also develop a hopeful spot in our hearts.
Then most of us “grow up”, or at least become adults in age, if not in decorum or success. We create careers, that are often filled with so much work and pressure. It wears us out! We stay on pace of obtaining and using more than we need. We lose the magic and hope that filled our childhood.
This was the theme of this recent Disney creation. Then something wonderful happens, when Christopher Robin gets lost in the illusion of a successful career. His best friend Pooh comes and finds him and asks him questions that penetrate Christopher’s misconceptions. You will have to see the movie to find out how it all turned out!
This seems to be the story for many of us. We believe it is important to be successful and we often spend way too much time doing so. Then we arrive at a place in our life when we need rescuing. We need our “inner Pooh” to come find us!
Oscar Wilde said “To live is the rarest thing in the world, most people exist, that is all” Winnie the Pooh said “I used to believe in forever, now I believe forever is too short!” And Pooh said “don’t underestimate the power of doing nothing!”
I wish for all the beings on Earth to rediscover the magic of their best childhood days. Days that are filled with play, adventure and delight! May we create the balance of achieving our dreams and living in the moments of joy and love and just doing nothing! From my fanciful heart to yours, Thomas
