Beggars Can Be Choosers

“You must accept that which is given to you, especially if you don’t have the means to acquire it yourself.”  This is the definition for the blog title, that I found on Google.  There are so many old phrases that jump into my mind unconsciously.  I am of that age, that many sayings were passed down from generation to generation.  There was no television, or Wikipedia or such. We heard what our elders said and often repeated it.  I found myself thinking about a situation today and my mind said “beggars can’t be choosers!”  Then my next thought was, maybe they can.

Life is difficult for a lot of people.  We see so many people asking for money or food on street corners.  We have no idea what lead to them being in that position.  And we don’t need to judge them for creating that life situation.  So many people today live paycheck to paycheck and have little reserves to keep them going.  An unfortunate experience can devastate us.

In my belief, we always choose.  Many times conscious and many more times unconsciously.  In the big picture of life, we choose to incarnate and perhaps to choose parents and our environment. Then once we incarnate we keep on making choices that sometimes do not serve us.  That doesn’t make us wrong or deficient.  It makes us human.  So those of us who are less fortunate have made choices that didn’t work out.  And the beauty of life is we get to keep on choosing.  It would be great if those of us who have made choices that worked out pretty well, could help those who didn’t.  We are so blessed and so abundant.  May we share our bounty, our love and our caring to help anyone who needs support.

We don’t need to accept anything in life, like a beggar, even if we don’t have the means to change it.  We can always choose again! From my begging heart to yours, Thomas
