Friendship
I had the honor of performing in the musical Anything Goes twenty seven years ago. I was a baby! I played the romantic lead named Billy Crocker. I got to sing a song called Friendship with two other actors. It was exciting to sing such amazing lyrics written by the incomparable Cole Porter! Here are the lyrics:

I was reading volume seven of the Harry Potter series this morning for the eighteenth time. Yes, I know I’m addicted! To perhaps, some of the most brilliant, entertaining writing ever. The book is titled Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. There is a scene in the book where Harry is following a bright silver doe through the woods. He eventually comes upon a small pond covered in ice, in which the Sword of Griffindor is resting on the bottom. Harry jumps in and tries to extract the sword. However, he is wearing a cursed locket around his neck and it attempts to strangle him. At the last moment, his estranged friend Ron, jumps in and pulls him out, exclaiming “are you mental?” At this moment my throat always constricts and I get tears in my eyes.
Harry and Ron are the best of friends and have been together through a lot of chaos and danger. Ron has left Harry and their classmate Hermione, because he was wearing the same cursed locket and it made him act crazy. Upon his return and his saving of Harry I get very emotional about the love I feel between two friends, even in a book of fiction. I wish that kind of friendship for everyone on planet Earth. If there are people in your life, for which you would jump in a frozen pool. Contact them right now. Tell them how much you care! They can be relatives of course. The connection though, is a deep bond of believing and loving each other, no matter what. If you don’t have that kind of connection with someone, I urge you to create it.
