Let’s share good news
Back in 1997 a team of us got together in Sedona and decided to create a different kind of television show. I had been part of a brainstorming session with Gloria Reeder of IBI. During the event it came to me that most of, if not all, television talk shows were mostly focused on how dysfunctional and broken we all were. I thought wouldn’t it be nice if we could create a TV talk show that focused on our magnificence instead. Our team sent out 625 letters to a list of famous people and received 67 responses which is amazing. Including a personal letter from Mother Teresa.
Three Hollywood celebrities Tim Conway, Michael York and Ed Begley Jr. also personally left voice messages on our answering machine. I use this name dropping not to brag in any way but to show that there is interest in positive television programming. We need it more now then ever before.
A mini miracle seemed to have occurred as well. We sent a copy of our business plan along with some filmed segments of our show to Oprah Winfrey to have her produce it. She didn’t do that, however shortly later the Oprah show began to move in a more spiritual direction. I am not saying she used our material. I am suggesting that somewhere in consciousness it was time for that kind of programming to appear and help change the world in a wonderful way. Now it is largely off the air except for the Oprah Winfrey Network or The Spiritual Cinema Circle, a wonderful monthly subscription service.
