Reminiscing
I am reminded of the movie “Michael”. John Travolta plays an outrageous angel who overeats sugar and is irresistible to women. In one scene he is talking with a Jack Russell Terrier named Sparky. He exclaims how wonderful life on planet Earth is and that he is really going to miss it when he leaves.
I too think about all of the sensuous things I will miss. Lou Ann’s touch and beautiful smile. My children’s faces and the memories of them when we grew up together. The taste of peanut butter and watermelon and hot buttered popcorn, french fries, tacos and more. The smell of fresh brewed coffee and Plumeria blossoms. The sight of geese flying south for the winter. The changing leaves in the Fall. Disneyland, Mount Rushmore. Sunrises and sunsets. Sitting in the dark in a big movie theater holding Lou Ann’s hand and watching a romantic movie with tears in my eyes. Huge thunderstorms with window shaking lightning and the smell of the air after the storm has passed. Chirping red Cardinals that have escorted me all over this country. Performing live on stage. Hearing John Denver sing. Watching the Lakers, Rams, Reds and Bruins. Being on the edge of my seat as my team played in championship games. Traveling to distant places and discovering how much we are alike.
All the times that our many friends around the world shared a meal, a tear, a laugh, a smile, a hug, a birth, a death, an aha! The dozens of times we were together, being so close and bonded perhaps forever. What an adventure I have been on. I don’t really know what is next. I have had many recollections of past incarnations and if it’s not just my imagination then I would have to say “I’ll be back” For now I will continue to communicate through my blog and enjoy each moment. How about you, what are the juicy elements of your life? From my heart to yours, Thomas
