The Simple Life
Before I get into today’s blog, I want to acknowledge and thank Pat Tatom Sumstine for her accurate assessment of yesterday’s epistle. She questioned whether our sexuality is a choice; and of course it isn’t! Unless, it is a soul’s choice before incarnating. I was so focused on the judgment that sometimes occurs about our race, or sexuality or other choices that I missed the point.
Lou Ann and I were driving to Costco today which is about 55 miles away and we heard the song “Give me the Simple Life” on the radio. The song reminds me that often we get caught up in life’s activities and that we could miss the best things. Which reminds me of another song which is ‘The Best Things in Life are Free”, here are some lyrics:
The moon belongs to everyone
Best things in life they’re free
Stars belong to everyone
They cling there for you and for me
Flowers in spring
The robins that sing
The sunbeams that shine
They’re yours and their mine
Love can come to everyone
Best things in life they’re free
Maybe it just comes with aging. I shared with you before that I am now driving the speed limit. It feels so good to be enjoying the drive we did today. I notice more things, like the clouds and mountains and trees. I feel more connected to everything than just rushing by to get to a destination. And I also thought, the simple life can be a challenge as well. I love being in a small town and connecting with so many people. At the same time, I am giving a lot of energy to making the world a better place. I spend most of my hours doing that. So it feels like finding the balance between my desire to help the planet and take care of myself is very important.
I encourage you folks to find the balance in life as well. Give your love and passion to what you desire and make sure you are at the top of the list. From my simple heart to yours, Thomas
