Groundhog Day
Every year on this day, Lou Ann and I keep watching the same movie over and over again! What if we only had one day? What would we do with it? If we knew we were going to keep getting that day again and again? Remember the movie starring Bill Murray? He starts out as an egotistical weatherman. He has disdain for most people and things. Then of course, he keeps repeating the same day. He goes through perhaps thousands of repetitions. He spends his time getting what he wants, not really thinking of others. He gets so despondent about his situation that he tries to kill himself, many different ways.
Finally he begins to fall in love with his television producer. Then once he opens his heart to love he totally transforms. Then he does all these amazing things to help support the people of Punxsutawney Pennsylvania.
The movie is a metaphor for life here on Earth. I believe that when we are only thinking of our self; life doesn’t work very well. It is when we open up to our highest possible way of living, that it begins to flow. When we get stuck in thinking our current life experience is so repetitive, we get to switch. One way is in service to others.
When we forget about our own problems and limitations and just give, we create magic. For our protagonist in the movie; each day was like a lifetime. Kind of like reincarnation. We get to do it over and over again. When we do it from the heart, it is a joyful experience for all involved. May we all find that spark of love and service so that each day and lifetime is filled with everything our heart and soul desires. From my forever heart to yours, Thomas
