Universal Principle #3
Oneness
Since the essence of everything is pure loving energy, in the truest sense, we are One. Oneness, love, is indivisible. Whenever we attempt to withhold love from anyone, we withhold love from everyone, including our Self. The truth of this principle becomes clear as we allow our hearts to open and feel our interconnectedness.
There is only Oneness, not twoness. Oneness is everyone and everything. When we do anything in Oneness it affects everything and everyone forever. While this can be a heavy burden it is also a energy freeing possibility. When anyone or anything is hurting we are all hurting. When one part of Oneness is experiencing joy, we are all feeling it. This is a powerful concept. We can then make choices that give energy and love to anyone anywhere.
It comes with it a responsibility to be aware of every word, thought or action we take. If we get out in front of ourselves we can be a wonderful healing force. In our world today an important part of supporting Oneness is environmental sustainability.
Here locally, we are working on being more sustainable. Lou Ann and I are permaculturing our acre here in the high desert. We have solar, hybrid cars and now structured water. Now we are reducing our carbon footprint with the planting of fruits and vegetables. Here is a definition of sustainability from the Sustainability Store:
- Sustainability means reducing our harm on the environment and ultimately reversing the harm we have already caused.
- Sustainability means renewing resources at a rate equal to or greater than the rate at which they are consumed.
- Sustainability means living within the resources of the planet without damaging the environment now or in the future.
- Sustainability means creating an economic system that provides for quality of life while renewing the environment and its resources.
- A sustainable community is one that resembles a living system where all of the resources (human, natural, and economic) are renewed and in balance for perpetuity.
- Sustainability is creating a world where everyone can have fulfilling lives and enjoy a rich level of well-being within the limits of what nature can provide.
- Sustainability means taking the long-term view of how our actions effect future generations and making sure we don’t deplete resources or cause pollution at rates faster than the earth is able to renew them.
- Sustainability means living a life of dignity in harmony with nature.
- Some of the many uses of the word sustainable include: Sustainable Business / Sustainable Development / Sustainable Agriculture / Sustainable Living / Sustainable Community. Here is how we can all pitch in. Begin by becoming aware that what we do affects our physical environment. When we shop, consider the products and of what they are made and where they are made. Consider not purchasing something new but going and purchase something used if it is better for the planet. Each day let us be conscious of our decisions and pause and reflect ” does this support everyone and everything?’ Don’t let it be a burden, let it be a powerful choice to have the best possibility for Oneness! From my heart to yours, Thomas.
