Positive Place
Spiritual leader John Rogers used to say “if it is funny later then it is funny now!” My wife Lou Ann and I use that as a mantra sometimes especially now while we are remodeling our home here in Sedona. I have never liked negative declarations like Murphy’s Law “such as anything that could go wrong will go wrong”. Even if there is a lot of truth to it I don’t like to give it a lot of energy. And of course during this six month remodeling mostly anything that could go wrong did go wrong. So as I sit here and recite “if it is funny later then it is funny now”; a big smile spreads across my face. I look forward to that day when Lou Ann and I and perhaps others have gathered together and laugh our asses off about the remodel from hell.
For more than twenty five years we have used the label Positive Place. We had a bookstore with the name. I had a radio show on local station KAZM with the name. We had a television show in production with the name. Our website has the name. Lou Ann and I mostly look at the bright side of life. One of my favorite songs to sing is “Cockeyed Optimist” Perhaps my favorite line in the song is “but I’m stuck like a dope with a thing called hope and I can’t get it out of my heart, not this heart!” As I write this right now it gives me a lump in my throat.
Lou Ann and I have been on such an adventure that has surely had it’s roller coaster times. There have been many times when we could have made a decision to cut back. It doesn’t fit how we see Universe working. Even now, when the local solar business in Arizona has hit a wall, we do a vacation rental business in our home. To use a baseball metaphor; I believe that if I have struck out a hundred times in a row; the next time at bat I will hit a home run! Find that place inside you that can see the joy in at least striking out. You didn’t sit on the sidelines. You got in the game and gave it your best shot! And if it is funny later it is funny now! From my positive heart to yours, Thomas
